Recruitment is more than filling vacancies—it’s the first expression of your school’s values.
The Respectful Recruiter Scheme sets a new standard for excellence in school recruitment.
It recognises schools that lead with transparency, dignity, and inclusion in how they attract, engage, and onboard talent.
Grounded in international best practice and designed for the unique context of K–12 education, our framework supports schools to build trusted, equitable recruitment systems that reflect their commitment to people and purpose.
Transparent and consistent hiring practices that prioritise fairness, safeguarding, and alignment with organisational values.
Every interaction—from first contact to final decision—is handled with professionalism, respect, and empathy.
Proactive strategies to ensure diversity, equity, and belonging are embedded throughout recruitment.
New hires are welcomed through structured onboarding processes that foster connection, clarity, and a sense of belonging from day one.
Schools regularly reflect on their recruitment experience and make purposeful improvements—ensuring alignment with evolving values, feedback, and best practice.
The Respectful Recruiter Scheme recognises schools that treat recruitment not just as a process—but as a promise: to lead with integrity, care for candidates, and continuously improve the way people are welcomed into their communities.
Our evaluation process is designed to guide schools through a rigorous yet supportive journey toward respectful recruitment recognition. The steps below outline the standard pathway from application to endorsement:
1. Enrolment & Onboarding (1 week)
Schools begin by submitting their application and fee. A brief onboarding meeting is held with an Evaluation Lead Officer, and access to the evaluation platform is provided.
2. Candidate Status Confirmed
Once onboarded, schools receive official Candidate status, signalling their commitment to the process and enabling access to tools and planning resources.
3. Initial PD Program (2–6 weeks)
Leadership teams complete 5 targeted professional development modules designed to build foundational understanding and prepare for evidence submission. Modules include practical activities and reflection tasks.
4. Evidence Compilation & Upload (6–10 weeks)
Schools collect and submit documentation aligned to the evaluation criteria. Platform tools, examples, and guidance support this stage.
5. Initial Submission Review (10 days)
A preliminary check ensures the submission is complete. Schools may be asked to clarify or add missing items before full review begins.
6. Full Evaluation & Feedback (6–8 weeks)
Our evaluation team conducts a detailed review of the submission. Schools receive a feedback report outlining either endorsement or clear next steps for improvement.
Ongoing Endorsement
Endorsement is valid for three years. Schools must complete a re-evaluation to maintain their recognised status.
